Hertog Jan

Gert De Mangeleer & Joachim Boudens

Gert De Mangeleer & Joachim Boudens have done it again! Their unique Hertog Jan story has come to Antwerp where the gastronomic partnership that led to three Michelin stars has revived its culinary concept. A hub of innovative cuisine, Hertog Jan recreates the West Flemish garden experience in an intimate setting with its own greenhouse, beehives and herb garden for flower, herb and tomato supplies. The restaurant is intimate, with a limited number of covers. The interior design by Benoit Viaene is honest and unique, allowing connoisseurs to focus on the art that is brought to their hand-crafted wooden tables.

Omakase

This Japanese phrase – derived from makaseru, ‘to entrust’ – describes a formal dining practise during which guests hand the chef full creative freedom to select and prepare a sequence of inspirational dishes. At Hertog Jan, this becomes a sublime journey of at least three hours, reflecting the season and the chef’s inventiveness and skill. The menu’s composition and serving techniques create a unique gastronomic experience: a culinary work of performance art. To guarantee the purity of this event, no allowance will be made for allergies and food intolerances.
